Municipal Authority
Meetings
Meetings of the Municipal Authority are the second Monday during each quarter at 5:30 PM
Over 50 years ago the Conewago Township Municipal Authority was created by resolution of the Conewago Township Board of Supervisors. On December 16, 1964, the Municipal Authority was incorporated by the Department of State and chartered for 50 years. On January 29, 2014, the Department of State approved extending the existence of the Municipal Authority until August 1, 2063.
The responsibility of the Municipal Authority's five member Board is to fix, alter, charge and collect reasonable rentals and other charges for the use of the facilities of, or for the services rendered by the Authority or projects thereof, for the purpose of providing for the payment of the expenses of the Authority, the construction, improvement, repair, maintenance and operation of its facilities and properties.
The Municipal Authority's facilities include approximately 34 miles of gravity sanitary sewer lines, 1 1/2 miles of force mains and two pumping stations. There are over 2800 residences and businesses connected to the sanitary sewer system. The sewage is conveyed to the Hanover Borough's Wastewater Treatment plant for treatment.
